The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings
The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings provide a globally recognised forum for the exchange of knowledge between Nobel Laureates and young researchers. The original idea of the meetings goes back to the two Lindau physicians Dr. Franz Karl Hein und Professor Gustav Parade, and Count Lennart Bernadotte af Wisborg, a member of the Swedish royal family who quickly became the "spiritus rector" behind the Meetings.

The scientific programme comprises interdisciplinary platform discussions, lectures presented by the Laureates and seminar talks and is spread over several days. It reflects current scientific topics and deals with developments covering different fields; it addresses questions relating to basic research and application-orientated themes. The social programme forms an integral element of the programme concept of the Nobel Laureate Meetings. It is designed to provide as many opportunities for personal interaction as possible: Get-together evenings, jointly attended dinners, as well as the boat trip to the Isle of Mainau; all these activities offer excellent opportunities for intensive discussion between the Laureates and 'Best Talents'. Young researchers from more than 60 countries attend any one Meeting. They are nominated by a global network of Academic Partners and then evaluated by a review panel.
Information about the upcoming 60th Meeting of Nobel Laureates (3rd Interdisciplinary Meeting) in 2010 are available here.
